All Or Nothing

so things have been busier than hell, but at the same time not really moving. i know this sounds like a contradiction in terms, and probably is, but it is what it is.

i have a ton of work to do on the condo, most of which i cannot do cause of financial restrictions - although the finances have gotten much better over the past year. i was treated to a good surprise from my former employer this week. initially, this “issue” concerned me, so i called them up to discuss. in short, i got free money that i had to do absolutely nothing for. i never authorized them to pull any $ from my checks, and nothing had been - it was all “employer” generated. granted it isnt “money in my hand” but i’ll be able to invest it to have it grow. i aint gonna bite the hand that feeds (or that had fed - lol) … good times.

as always, podcasting is not far from my mind. besides my own, i’ve been trying to listen to some new shows lately. some are good - others - ehhh. thats the great thing about the podcasting medium, if ya dont like it, dont download anymore episodes - simple as that. i swear it feels like i have headphones superglued to my head - lol. if it isnt me listening to my iPod, its me f’ing around on the computer. maybe in 5 -10 years they will have bluetooth headphone chips you cant have placed in your brain, so as to not ever have to worry about using corded headphones again. you think i’m kidding - watch, its gonna happen - lol.

Great Start To The Weekend

so i get up this morning, a little earlier than usual, to bring my truck into the local Discount Tire store to have my wheels rotated.  i’ve actually been meaning to do this since the beginning of december, but as life would have it things just kept coming up.  but anyway … so i get there around quarter to 8:00, but it looks like they don’t open till 8:30, so i figured i would go over to my local Meijer store (those of you not familiar with this place, think of kmart, but smaller, but with a little bit of everything - food, clothes, automotive, pet supplies, housewares, etc…).  from what i remembered they had a Dickies workshirt that i’ve been meaning to pick-up, but just haven’t.  i walk around for about a half an hour or so, pick up my workshirt, pay, and proceed back to the Discount Tire store.

upon arriving at 8:25, doors were still locked as i saw many of the people trying to get in before everyone else, walking back to their vehicles.  apparently i had timed it perfectly - when the clock in my truck reached 8:30 i got out, walked toward the front doors of the establishment, and as i was walking i saw one of the workers unlocking the doors to let me in.  sweet.  i get up to the counter to tell the guy i just needed a rotation on my tires, he did all his clickity clicks on his keyboard, tells me it should be about 45 min to an hour.  i walk over to the seating area, turn on my iPod to listen to some podcasts, and just relax.

so 45 minutes have come and gone.  i figure with the amount of people that had come in it might be talking them a little longer, so i continue to listen to my podcasts.  about an hour an a half  goes by & i get up to see where they are at.  i look into the docking area where they do all their wheel adjustments and my truck is nowhere to be found.  i look into the parking lot where i had parked it when i arrived, again, no truck.  after a few minutes of looking around (before i started freaking out that my truck had been yanked from the lot) i finally see it on the very far end of the lot.  i go up to the counter and ask the guy behind it if there was any status on my truck.  he tells me that its been done for about 30-45 minutes, but that they had forgot to let me know.  what ??? forgot to let me know ???  also after he informed me of the status, he mentions to me that “i though you looked familiar”.  im thinking, well, i should cause you were the one that took care of me when i first came in !!!

so the time i though i would be saving by getting up early & getting there when the doors opened was completely wasted because “dude” forgot.  not to mention that it is bitter ass f’n cold up here today.  i thought my fingers were gonna fall off by the time i got to my truck.  hopefully this isn’t going to be the start of “one of those weekends”.
