sometimes things work out like you plan, sometimes not so much.
been an interesting past few days. not bad necessarily, just interesting. friday i had posted about doing a live "drunk show" which sort of worked out. i wasn't live to an audience, just by myself in my condo trying to come up with content off the cuff. i really dont think that any of that audio is gonna make it anywhere on the show, unfortunately. but i was able to get more comfortable with doing a show live.
i was also able to get use to working with a different recording program, normally i use Garageband ... this time i was using Ubercaster. this is a program made specifically for Mac's. i initially had some issues with Ubercaster, latency was definitely a problem. i chalk that up to not being very familiar with recording in general. after talking through a mic for the past 6-7 months, it was significantly easier to use. there is still latency, not huge, but enough to screw ya up. i've made some adjustments on my end and it seems to be working really good now.
as i was recording i was able to talk to a few people on my cell using my speakerphone, while recording it through my Snowball mic. i think it turned out really good considering how it was recorded. i've got a few more days till my self inflicted due date for the next show, but nothing solid to release yet. just need a little time to sit in front of the mic.
saturday i made a realization that i will not be getting an iPhone. i would really like to have one but the pricing plans through AT&T are more money, with less minutes and less texts it just doesn't make any financial sense to do that. so i've been looking at some other phones. some seem pretty cool, but not really practical. others seem practical, but not really all that cool. i just want to find a decent medium with a phone that has an address book that i can have more than one phone number per person. i've had a RAZR for the past 2 years, which had quite possibly been the absolute worst cell phone i have ever had. i'd just like to be able to have a phone that i dont need to get rid of as soon as a new contract is necessary.
sunday was a lazy day.
today was a fairly normal day, till i got home. i got in, loaded up the mac, opened up my email client, and noticed an email from a podcaster, whos show i've been listening to for the past 2 years, and really enjoy it. he was given me props for my show. me ?!?!. yea, i was surprised to say the least. to be honest, it made my night. i haven't stopped smiling for the past 2 hours - lol. people dont realize, or maybe they just forget how much a little pat on the back means to the person receiving it. that was cool as hell, and im sure it will be for quite a while.
while we're on the subject of cool people ... i'd appreciate it if ya checked out the link i have below. its for a friend thats wanting to make a change in his life, but is having a rough start. a little support could make a world of difference for him. check it out ... Click Here

finally, the week is over and im kickin' back on the couch with my mac on my lap. it feels good to do nothing, probably too good. while laying around is cool and all having some structure and some stuff to keep you busy does better for your mental health.
today at work i was thinking about recording, specifically the content. i admit, the last few episodes have been sort of "lacking". but i really have every intention to create the best possible show i can at the time im recording it, it just doesn't always work out that way. so i've made a decision for my next show i ... am ... drinking !!!
seriously, i figure after a few Shiners i'll be talkin my own ear off. i have no idea what will be discussed ... none whatsoever. but thats kinda what i like about it. pure improvisation. who knows what'll happen ... i have no idea ... but im willing to find out. hopefully, if all works out, i'll have some audio gold.
1st Shiner consumed. on to # 2 ...

its been a week since recording the new show. i've posted it up on my "webcramp" feed, as i still have not gotten one specifically for the show. we've gotten some really, really good feedback, and even a correction on something i had mentioned regarding Tim Skold (Shotgun Messiah, Marilyn Manson), i guess Twiggy Ramirez has come back to M.M. which obviously means Tim is longer playing with them. oops. anyway ... this episode was really only G and i introducing ourselves, and more than likely not going to be put onto the "regular" feed.
i had a great time having a co-host to interact with, but at the same time it was weird cause im so use to not having anyone there. im stoked about what the future holds, and where this show ends up. we're gearing up for the first offical show that should be recorded this coming weekend. good times.
thats all for now

just got done recording the introductory episode for The Ear Bud Lounge podcast a few hours ago. i've since been able to do some minor editing, and prep'd it to be uploaded once we have a feed ready. hopefully i'll be able to have it posted by the end of next week. i feel for a first attempt it worked out really well. i could tell G was a little nervous, but not nearly as bad as i was the first time i started recording The Webcramp Project. you seriously couldn't even tell through the audio that he was nervous at all. to G's defense, the recording software i was using has a bit of latency, enough to where it slows you down cause you keep hearing yourself about a half a second to a second after you speak. i was able to get it to sound a little better, but the latency was still present.
it was really awesome havin' G come out to the condo to hang for a few hours and geek out on music a bit. there's alot of music out there, and alot of topics to cover, so im sure we'll be around for quite a while.
thanks man.
looks like i got the ok to use The Supersuckers song Bubblegum and Beer for our theme music on the new podcast G and i will be doing. i didnt think it was gonna be too much of an issue considering the song is podsafe, being listed on the Podsafe Music Network. i just wanted to clear it with the band to make it completely cool. im really super stoked about this. its a kick ass, fun song and i think it will make a perfect fit on the show.
this band has just recently been brought to my attention, well ... thats not completely true. i had "heard of" The Supersuckers before, i just never "heard" them. what i've heard so far is really cool. i look forward to checking out more of their stuff in the future ... and probably talking about it on The Ear Bud Lounge podcast : ).

i've gone through a number of emotions these past couple of days. not to say this is a bad thing, just weird.
for most of saturday i felt like i was on top of the world. early that morning i was on my way to my friend G's house. he needed some help moving a piano from his mother-in laws house to his. after that though we had planned on running some tests with our USB microphones. he and i have the exact same mics. usually that wouldn't be a problem, but we had 2 things against us ...1) i dont have a mixer. 2) condenser mics are known to pick up a wider range of sound than a dynamic mic. i was worried about our vocals bleeding into each others mic, making an echo in the recording.
the time came to give it a whirl. i loaded up the mac, attached the mics, and loaded up Garageband. i was unable to get them to work ... crap. i closed out of the program and loaded up another. Audio Hijack Pro to be exact. this is a program that im sure i could get to work, problem is the AHP interface would take a while to set-up and honestly, i wasn't in the mood to wait. i had one more program to try. Ubercaster. i've had some issues with this program in the past. not because of the interface, thats amazingly easy to set-up. not even the editing capabilities, from the time you start recording to the time you upload your files, everything is self contained here - so i got that goin for me ... which is nice. the only real issue i ever had with Ubercaster was the amount of latency it produces. i've tried using this program while recording The Webcramp Project, i just usually never had any luck. the latency seemed to always get in the way.
not this time though. i was able to get both of the mics hooked up separately, and while there was a little latency, it was much easier to deal with while talking to someone rather than recording a solo show. Ubercaster also has the capability for me to play sound clips while im recording. sweet !!! the bleeding i was concerned about is virtually non-existent we took the time to do a little test checking out the sound clip interface while recording. it worked out great, plus we ended up with some great out-take audio. i couldn't have been any happier.
sunday was sort of blah. ran some errands, paid some bills, laid around a bit. the usual lazy sunday.
today was a normal day at work. on my way home i stopped off by the tax guy to get my taxes done. unfortunately there was a document i was missing that was needed. i told the guy i would check to see if i could find it at home and if so, i would be back tomorrow. as luck would have it i found it almost immediately after walking in the door. now is as good a time as any, so i went back to the tax man & got everything filed - good times. slightly lower amount than i was expecting, but its still green, so i'm good.
got alot of work happenin here at casa del catfish for the week. hope to be getting getting episode 8 out sometime this weekend. if not, then definitely by next friday. need a vacation just to get home life back in order again - lol. i'm all over the place so that must be my que to get out of here - lol.
later all.
...
haven't been around lately. haven't had much to say honestly.
i released a new podcast episode this weekend so if ya want to check it out go to http://webcramp.com, or subscribe through iTunes (subscribe button located at the webcramp site). already have episode 8 in the works. i've made it a point to give myself a time limit to get shows out. no more "month and a half between episodes". im looking at releasing shows every 2 weeks ... yes, i said every 2 weeks (give or take a day or two). im plan on telling more stories from my past, and as always i'll be playing all sorts of music. maybe if im lucky i'll get some actual feedback. if i do, thats cool. if i don't, its not gonna sway me from continuing to do the show. but i would really like to get something, anything ... seriously.
i've decided to occasionally post pictures of myself, as i have at the top of the post. they aren't necessarily representative of how i currently look, but just random pics of me at some point in my ilife. lately alot of them have been "PhotoBooth" pics (photobooth is an application installed on my Mac that uses the iSight camera to take pictures, and now video). occasionally i'll take a shot or two, its cool to see them later, maybe a few months after. i've been cracking up seeing the ones i've taken over the past year.
i apologize if im coming across a little down. i've just really been out of it. hence, why i haven't been here. looks like the sun is expected to come out tomorrow ... it might just be what the doctor ordered.
take care all, gotta get some rest.
