yep. got it for free from my old friend steve just a few days ago. i've wanted this shirt for years but never had the money to pick it up. its been sitting in a storefront window for the majority of the past 10 year or so, so i guess you can say its been "naturally" distressed.
it fits.
i dig it.
good times.

the time has finally come, and its only taken me 26 years to get comfortable enough to even think about trying to record me singing - lol. moments ago i was messing around with my washburn jazz hollowbody guitar, just playin' and stuff when i had this CRAZY idea to try and sing while playing. honestly, this is something i never really tried before. the fact is, i never thought i had even a decent voice ... but recording the podcast has given me a much better outlook on my vocal ability. now don't get me wrong, i still don't think i can sing at all, but im able to hear my voice now without completely cringing.
i've got alot of work ahead of me trying to master the art of playing guitar and singing at the same time. for some of you out there this combination may no big issue, singing and playing may be as natural as breathing. i think my problem was, when i was younger, just starting to play, i never pushed myself hard enough to learn this skill, and at the time just being able to play was enough for me. i think this possibly may be a reason why im not all that great of a lyricist. not focusing on the vocals at all, i never really had a need to try and write any lyrics. and even when i tried writing some, they were either too generic, or way too cliche. now songwriting is not rocket science, i know that, but to be able to produce something good is usually gonna take more than just a few minutes.
i want to get more into writing and playing music. i've spent too many years not focusing on it enough. and while having played guitar for the past 25-26 years has been fun, i know i have so much more to learn, and i think im ready too, but i need to first figure out the playing/singing thing.
a number of months ago i was messin' around in garageband, trying to start recording some guitar stuff and ended up creating this little audio file. i posted it in the audio section of the blog, but i dont think i ever actually posted it in a post. so here it is ... if you feel inclined, let me know what you think.
thats all for now.

apparently, as of the 22nd of last month, i reached my first year of podcasting. i have a lot of fun creating the show and will continue to do so as long as it continues to be fun. the one negative is that i've only released 10 episodes. i really try not to compare what i do to anything else thats out there, but when it comes to the amount of released shows in a year, i'm far behind most other podcasts. on the other hand, im glad i take my time releasing them as i dont want to put something out there just to have another episode out.
in the coming year i'd like to have the podcast not only show more sides of me, but be more than just me behind the mic. i've got some really cool friends, and while i have talked about a few in past episodes i'd love to have them on the show. sometimes having someone else there just makes it feel more natural when telling stories from my past. and as always, i'll be continuing to play more music ... and possibly widening the gap on the genre's being played. i really don't know what other changes or additions may or may not be happening ... i guess you'll just have to check the show out to see ...

got some news tonight. i can't really say it was bad news, cause in some weird way i was sort of expecting it. but because of a crazy hectic home/work/school schedule, my co-host of The Ear Bud Lounge podcast, G, has decided to take leave for the time being. we both knew from the start that each of us being on the same page time-wise was gonna be a bit challenging, but i think we may have underestimated it (at least i know i did). i understand the situation ... well, at least as much as i can, not having a family of my own, or any other priorities to tend to.
so for the time being, im thinking about having different people come on each of the "future" episodes to talk about the music, audiobooks, podcasts (audio and/or video) that they like. or maybe even the stuff that they dont like. or i may just shut the whole thing down and start anew when the timing is more appropriate.
not sure yet what im gonna do. i think i should at least give it a day or 2 to think it over. what do you think ?

what a great show ! i'd never seen Joan before and found out she was gonna be playing a local "fest" that was going on during the 4th of july weekend. i'd never realized how little of a person she actually was, but either way the show was great i was really happy to have seen her set.
some of the songs included were, (the opener) bad reputation, do you wanna touch, cherry bomb (the runaways), fetish, light of day, i love rock and roll, crimson a clover, androgynous, and a bunch of other tunes with some other covers mixed in as well. joan is comin' up on 50, but honestly looked better than most 30 year olds.
i was able to get some pics from the show, so i thought i would share ...
i strongly advise if you have never seen Joan Jett and The Blackhearts live, that you do so as soon as possible. its a really good show, and im sure you will walk away just as satisfied as i was from her performance. im gonna make it a point the next time she comes to the area to see her again.

for a while now i had been posting fairly regularly, until recently. i've needed some time away. some time to collect and sort out my thoughts, as i've had alot of them floating around. im not saying everything is horrible, but im also not saying that all is great either.
started recording another show yesterday ... well i at least got the opening and 1 song set up. this evening i tried recording some audio of my goings on over the past few weeks. i've also been recording some audio from my truck while driving. i still need to review it to make sure the audio quality isn't too bad. i've got so much to say, but many times have trouble presenting it properly. not just for the show, but in life as well.
yes, there are things going on that i don't feel right talking about here ... for the time being. im sure at a later date all will be revealed. i guess one thing i can say is im a very loyal person, but even the most loyal have their breaking points when pushed.
its late ... im tired ... im going to bed.
